Jennifer will emphasize the importance of collaboration in strangulation recognition and response.  This training begins with a discussion of asphyxiation & a review of basic medical terminology. Anatomical structures are then reviewed along with basic physiology of the respiratory, cardiovascular & central nervous systems.  With this foundation established, an explicit discussion of the physiological significance of strangulation is offered.  Investigative techniques are then discussed with rationale provided for each line of inquiry.  A discussion of photodocumentation, body maps, & physical assessment tools will be included.
